Looking after your Honey

Live in it. Don't preserve it.

Pebble-grain leather is built to be lived in. It softens, shifts and develops a character that's specifically yours. A few small habits will keep it looking like itself for years.

The short version

Wipe with a dry cloth. Keep dry where you can. Condition once a year. That's it.

Day-to-day care

Pebble grain is one of the most forgiving leathers. It hides small scuffs naturally and only gets better with use. The single best thing you can do is wipe your Honey down with a soft dry cloth when you take it off at night. Quick. Done. That's the whole ritual.

If something splashes (coffee, water, sunscreen), blot it with a clean cloth as soon as you notice. Don't rub. Let it air-dry naturally, away from direct heat.

The yearly condition

Once a year, give the leather a feed. Any neutral leather conditioner from a cobbler or department store will do. Apply a small amount with a soft cloth in circular motions, let it absorb overnight, buff off with a clean cloth in the morning.

This is the only thing that genuinely matters for longevity. Skip it and the leather will eventually dry out.

Do · Don't

Do
  • Store in the dust bag when not in use
  • Wipe with a soft, dry cloth weekly
  • Condition the leather once a year
  • Let it air out if it gets damp. Never near direct heat.
  • Wear it. It's a bag, not a museum piece.
Don't
  • Use baby wipes, cleaning sprays, or solvents
  • Leave it in direct sunlight for long periods
  • Overstuff it. Leather stretches.
  • Store it folded or squashed under heavier things
  • Worry about every small mark

Webbing straps

The webbing straps (Flirt, Linger, Saunter, Sway, Wink) are jacquard-woven and hand-finished with leather tabs. They're robust. Wash them gently with cool water and mild soap if they get marked, and lay flat to dry. Don't tumble dry.

Hardware

The brass clips and zip pulls have a soft lacquer that protects against tarnish. Wipe them with a dry cloth. Never use metal polish or abrasive cleaners. They strip the lacquer and accelerate tarnishing.

Common questions

My Honey got caught in the rain. What now?

Pebble grain handles light rain fine. Pat it dry with a soft cloth when you get home and let it air out at room temperature. Avoid heaters and hair dryers. If it's properly soaked, stuff it gently with paper towel to hold its shape while it dries.

Can I fix a scratch?

Light scratches on pebble grain usually buff out with the warmth of your fingertip. Rub gently in a small circular motion. Deeper marks become part of the character. If something major happens, get in touch and we'll point you to a leather restorer.

The colour seems to have transferred onto a light shirt.

Rare but possible with new leather, especially in the darker colourways and especially if it's wet. Wipe the inside of the strap with a dry cloth a few times in the first week of use to settle any loose pigment. It stops after a few wears.

How do I store it long-term?

In the dust bag, stuffed lightly with tissue or bubble wrap to hold the shape, in a cool dry spot. Not under heavy items, not in plastic, and not anywhere humid.

Can you repair my bag?

Email us at hello@beeleatherco.com. For minor things we'll usually point you to a good local cobbler. For anything structural under our 12-month warranty, we'll sort it out from this end.
